If you are an investor get your money together, I’ve seen a glimpse of what the future holds! Before I share with you the direction of where most are headed…let’s see why I feel the way I do. Once upon a time there was a day when life was not so rush rush, and people did things that actually, inconvenienced them. Things like getting up to turn the television channel, playing outside and even…yes even, pressing little girls hair before going to church, school and taking pictures. Yes, people made the ultimate sacrifice and inconvenienced themselves!
Sometime during the 80’s and 90’s companies emerged to take advantage of the public’s lack of knowledge (and spending power) by creating inexpensive products that did more damage than good. This created a vicious cycle for those who lacked knowledge and money. All the while the results (of inferior products and lack of knowledge) manifested time and time again. Companies did research and applied psychology to sales and not only boosted profits, but implemented an unfair advantage over those that would neither take the time to research or did not have access to information that would lead them to the truth. Practices like putting children’s pictures on relaxer boxes, gave the public numerous impressions! Impressions like:
- This child on the box cover uses this product (notice how your impressions are not confirmed anywhere on the product?)
-My child can use this at home. This is a tricky one. Technically you can! In the words of Chris Rock “You can drive a car with just your feet too…but that doesn’t make it a good idea”
And the biggest lie of them all…
-If they retail it, it must be safe for me to buy and use! *Tisk, tisk* I know plenty of stylists; I don’t think I know of ANY that apply chemicals (relaxers) to children’s hair. As a professional, who has no problem rendering services for capital (money), I HAVE major issues with this practice (applying relaxers to children’s hair)! Those that know me, know how I feel about this. If you don’t know applying relaxer is a terrible practice. Relaxers are a commitment and I don’t know too much children should be commited to, besides listening to their parents, and doing well in school. I see soooo many children with relaxers these days. These are children that haven’t even started adolence! What I predict will happen in the future (as these children mature) is, they will develop scalp, and hair issues and depending upon how severe their issues are they will need some kind of cosmetic surgery (ie. extensions, braids, hair transplants, wigs, etc.) this will not be an option for “bad hair days” but rather mandatory for self esteem purposes! Mothers PLEASE stop putting chemicals in those baby’s heads for the inconvenience of having to press it, or style it. I hear a few of you saying “but my mother put relaxer in my hair since I was 3!” You may be one of the lucky ones. I’m actually glad you dodged a bullet…now help others dodge those bullets as well!
I’ll tell you fake hair is at an all time high. Hair transplants, and hair restoration is a very lucrative business and with beauty supply companies creating more and more kitchen stylists I see a tremendous need for more and more restoration companies, hair transplant companies, and more wig companies in the very near future. So investors…get your money right, b/c most people that read this won’t take heed!
